Front desk executives connect clients to the organizations concerned. They give the first impression of the concerned industry, either by phone or personally. Their tone and activities should be friendly and professional. Front desk job involves use of a computer and filing and distribution of mail. Duties and responsibilities of such executive include managing telephone calls, answering queries, information management, greeting and helping people, tracking office requirements and office administration. Some employees of front desk job are responsible for responding to complaints and issues of a service and general questions. If there is any incident, the front desk executive has to report the same to higher authorities.

Use of skills in a company in order to provide better service is the chief career objective of a front desk clerk. The clerk must have efficient office skills along with customer service skills. He may have to operate multi-line phone. He greets clients and performs administrative duties. He prepares excel reports on a daily and weekly basis. The job involves meeting deadlines and distributing faxes. Other qualities needed for a front desk clerk are ability to be organized and a great personality. A clerk should be motivated and confident. He must possess the capability to follow instructions and commands. He should have the ability to work in a team environment.

Front Desk Receptionist - Major Responsibilities

A receptionist is an office job in the waiting and welcoming area of an organization. The front desk receptionist receives and greets clients on their arrival and replies to incoming telephone calls. He answers inquiries of visitors and directs them to their destinations. A receptionist sorts and hands out mails. He sets appointments, files and keeps records and written correspondence. A front desk receptionist is also involved in data entry and office tasks like fax, email and bookkeeping. A receptionist maintains files of other employee’s attendance. To be a receptionist, computer skills and knowledge of telecommunication system is required.
