Born on 11 June 1910, Jacques Cousteau was a writer, an undersea explorer, a photographer and an inventor of many diving devices. He was born in a French town called Saint-Andre-de-Cubzac to Daniel and Elizabeth Cousteau. His love for the sea was combined with his interest in invention, which would go on to become the foundation of Jacques Cousteau biography. His inquisitive nature led him to create a model of a marine crane when he was only eleven years old. Academically, Cousteau was not very bright and he usually misbehaved to the extent that he was once expelled from school. He is also the co-inventor of an undersea breathing apparatus called the aqualung.
