John F Kennedy Biography – The Military Commander Who Served the US Presidency

John F Kennedy was one of the youngest and the most charismatic of the American Presidents and a greatest legend in the history of United States. His modern and liberal ideologies during his presidency showed his profound insights to his nation.

John F Kennedy Biography

John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917 in Brookline, and was reared in a financially and intellectually sound Irish descent Catholic family, who was politically inclined to the Democrats. His father Joseph Kennedy, a multi-millionaire, was once the US Ambassador to England and John served as his father’s secretary for six months, while pursuing graduation at Harvard. His senior thesis for Harvard was based on England’s military unpreparedness, which was later published as his greatest work, “Why England slept”. Finishing Harvard, John served the US navy during World War II, and became the commander of a patrol torpedo (PT) boat. Famous as JFK, John became a Congressman from Boston upon returning from the war, in turn leading him to the US Senate in 1953. In 1960, after a tight competition with Richard Nixon, John F Kennedy was elected the 35th President of the United States and was the first Roman Catholic President.Some of the successful political agendas during John F Kennedy presidency were supporting civil rights, aiding developing nations, funding the financially disadvantaged countries, promoting US activities in space exploration and stopping the spread of nuclear weapons and preventing Russia from installing nuclear missiles in Cuba.His book “Profiles in Courage” won him the Pulitzer Prize in history.

John F Kennedy Assassination - Still a Mystery

On November 22, 1963, a Friday, Kennedy was gruesomely shot while riding with his wife Jacqueline Kennedy, in the Presidential Limousine, through the Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas. The shot penetrated his upper back, damaging his neck and right lung. JFK was rushed to the Parkland hospital, where he was pronounced dead. On account of John F Kennedy assassination, Lee Harvey Oswald, a Marxist from Soviet Union was arrested. Oswald was shot dead by a nightclub owner two days later. The Carcano rifle used for John F Kennedy assassination was recovered later and the bullet fragments found from the Presidential limousine matched with the rifle, along with a partial palm print of Oswald on the rifle.The assassination shook the nation; schools were dismissed and people mourned during the days that followed. The Warren Commission concluded that Oswald was solely responsible for JFK’s murder and the results are still under speculation.
