Keri Hilson Biography - Starting Young

Keri Lynn Hilson was born on December 5, 1982 in Georgia. She started taking piano and singing lessons when she was 12 years old and by nineteen years of age Hilson had joined a team of songwriters known as The Clutch. Hilson wrote songs for various artists like Britney Spears, Usher, Kelly Rowland, Mary J. Blige, etc. Till mid-2000s, she had written a number of hit songs like, the Pussycat Dolls’ ‘Wait a Minute’, Britney Spears’ ‘Gimme More’ and Mary J. Blige's ‘Take Me as I Am’. In 2004, Hilson came to the forefront when she featured in rapper Xzibit’s single ‘Hey Now (Mean Muggin)’. Keri Hilson biography reached an important milestone in 2009 when her debut album ‘In a Perfect World…’ was released. The album garnered positive reviews from the critics and was certified Gold in US.

Keri Hilson album, ‘In the Perfect World…’ debuted at number one position on US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and at number four position on the Billboard 200. The album’s single, ‘Knock You Down’ became a big hit, reaching number three position on Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Another song from the album, ‘Turnin Me On’ reached number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100. Hilson got two Grammy nominations for the album, Best New Artist and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. The second Keri Hilson album ‘No Boys Allowed’ was released in December 2010. The album sold more than 100,000 copies and debuted at number 11 position on Billboard 200.
