Medicare Policy - Make Expensive Treatment Affordable

You can meet expenses for ailments such as cancer, paralytic cerebral stroke, organ transplants, bypass surgery, coronary artery diseases, renal failure, etc with Medicare policy. This policy covers expenses such as boarding expenses, room rents, nursing expenses, fees for consultants, anaesthetist, surgeon, cost of artificial limbs, pacemaker, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, dialysis, X-ray, diagnostic materials, drugs, medicines, surgical appliances, operation theatre, oxygen, blood, anaesthesia, etc. It also covers expenses such as ambulance charges, lodging expenses, travel costs, etc. However, there are certain exclusions in Medicare policy, which do not pay treatments for pre-existing diseases, AIDS, Lymphadinopathy Associated Viruses, HTLV-III, diseases occur due to alcoholism or drug addiction, suicide, self injury, nuclear attacks, terrorism, war, etc.

Medicare Age - Eligibility Criteria

You must fulfil certain eligibility criteria for getting Medicare health insurance benefits. Normally, Medicare age is 65 or above. However, people below this age also get this benefit due to some special criteria such as permanent physical disability, congenital physical disabilities, etc. Besides Medicare age, the authorities also consider lots of other factors as well. You must be a resident of the US legally for five continuous years. You or your spouse must pay Medicare taxes for a minimum period of 10 years. Those who fall under special criteria must get either rail road retirement disability benefits or social security SSDI benefits. They must also get any of these benefits for a minimum of 24 months from entitlement date.

Medicare Requirements - Basic Info

Medicare health insurance programme has four parts such as Part A, Part B, Part C and Part D. Medicare requirements of each part are different. Hospital insurance is coming under Part A, which covers doctor’s fee, tests, food and semi private room. Part B deals with medical insurance, which is helpful for paying products and services, which are not coming under Part A. Policy holder for Part B Medicare gets benefits such as hormonal treatment, chemotherapy, immunosuppressive drugs, renal dialysis, blood transfusion, pneumonia and influenza vaccination, diagnostic and laboratory tests, nursing services, etc. It also covers durable medical equipments such as mobility scooters, wheel chairs, walkers, canes, eye glasses, etc. Part C deals with Medicare advanced plans and Part D covers prescription drug plans. You can apply for Medicaid health insurance if you are pregnant, aged, disabled, blind etc. A certificate from a physician is also required for determining the eligibility of this policy.
