Michelangelo Biography - The Life of an Artist

Michelangelo has been one of the finest discovery of the renaissance Italy. Born on 6th March 1475, he was a painted, sculptor, poet and architect. His father was a Florentine government agent who shifted back to Florence soon after Michelangelo’s birth. Often considered as the greatest artists ever, Michelangelo received formal education from sculptor Bertoldo di Giovanni and painter Domencio Ghirlandaio. In early years, he studied classical art which created a lasting influence traceable in Michelangelo biography. In the early part of Michelangelo biography, one can see some struggle as his father did not favor art as profession. However, he did not give up. The proper Michelangelo biography as an artist started only after he moved to Rome in 1496. There, he got the first big assignment for the St. Peter’s basilica. Michelangelo Sculptures - What He Did Best

Michelangelo was predominantly a sculptor and he loved to see himself in that way. Some of his finest pieces are sculptures. Of course, one has to mention the Statue of David while talking about Michelangelo. Completed by 1504, this 17 feet marble statue depicts biblical hero David preparing for his fight against Goliath. The poise, the measurements, the expression - everything in that statue is perfect. Numerous Michelangelo sculptures can be seen in Medici chapel. However, experts believe that none of them have the soul of Michelangelo as they are created more out of fear than out of love. Apart from them, there are many unfinished works by Michelangelo. However, the sculptures by Michelangelo have a life of their own and they are rich with symbolism.
