The basic technology involved in the screen printing process
is quite simple which can be easily modified to suit various requirements. The primary elements that are required are the image carrier, the squeegee and the printing ink. A porous fabric or metallic mesh is stretched over a frame with adequate tension and the image to be printed is produced on it either manually or by photochemical methods. Using the squeegee the ink is then made to pass through this mesh on to the substrate where the printing is done as per the image on the mesh. The thickness of the threads and the density of the mesh control the amount of printing ink that passes through thereby giving the various shades. Drying of the substrate is the final step in the screen printing process.
